For the record HC went ape $%#& b/c I didn't call it.

HC was right. This is a balk all day: F1 may feint to 2B, but must step toward 2B first (or step off first).

Thanks, I needed that.

It was one of those "that can't be right" deals and I had a brain freeze. R2 had me stuck.

I figured I miised it.

Happens to everyone, but where was your partner, he should have bailed you out on one like that.

At least that's what we always hope happens. (g)

Thanks
David

You can't balk in softball. My partner's "claim to fame" is softball. He lives for it. He's stuck in it. He wouldn't call it if it hit him in the face (probably). Don't get me wrong, he's a decent umpire. Sometimes things just get lost in translation from 60' to 90'

David, this was last year - Madison Central at Grenada - MC pitcher and to top it off I balked Grenada TWICE for a knee jerk. GHS coach was right to have a fit. I let him.

Can't lead off in softball, either, so you don't need a balk rule. ;)

Oh hey, we don't have enough softball chat in this forum.

The point wasn't the lack of the rule. The point was because of the lack of the rule, he probably isn't very familiar with it's application. See, he's a softball up and prefers softball. He brushes off the rubber and 2B. He's fanatical about softball. David asked why he didn't bail me out. My reply was meant to say that it's not a rule in his preferred rule set so getting a 'GM' wasn't happening.

Okay, I get it now. :)

If he likes softball that's fine, but I don't know why people who want to do both don't bother to at least learn the differences.
