Longest Game?
I see Texas and BC had the longest game in NCAA history the other night - 25 innings, over 7 hours.
What's your longest game - innings and/or time? Mine was 14 innings, 4:45, and included the "winning" run taken off the board in the bottom of the 9th, a protest, and the other team subsequently winning the game. Fun stuff! JJ |
Just this season - 17 innings, 4:30. Home team kicked an 8-0 eighth inning lead. Was the the second game of a 7/9 double header , so I kind of know what 25 must be like!

I will tell you the longest 7 inning varsity HS game I ever had. 4 hours 25 minutes of sheer agony behind the plate. Considering I average 1:30 to 1:45, this was very unusually bad baseball being played. Or was it really baseball?

I did a 3:48 LL minors game years ago. Not long, in the time department, but you've got to drop down so much lower, it takes a toll on you.

I once had an 18 inning game that lasted over 6 hours including a bench cleaing brawl in the 9th inning. Two things I remember the most; one I was not schedule to work the game that day but a fellow umpire called two hours before game time because he was looking for a last minute replacement. I said sure, how hard could that be. Secondly, I made a call in the 7th that could have ended the game. There was pick off play at first where the runner was caught leaning the wrong way and a good throw from the pitcher would have been put him out. But the throw from the pitcher was really high and by the time the 1st baseman tagged the runner it was very close. I could have called him out and gotten away with the call. It would have been game over. As it turns out, he came around to tie the game. Four hours later, the game was over.
