Sorta OT: Replies disappear

Why do I get emails saying there have been replies to a thread I am participating in, but when I hit the link to check it out, that particular portion from the email is no where to be found?

Because the replies have been deleted -- either by the OP or (especaily yesterday morning at about 8:30 central time) by the Moderator -- I removed several (7-10, I'd guess) flaming posts from our flaming friend.

Bob, Is there any way to send you a private message?

Click on his name and select "Send private message to bob jenkins".

johnnyg08 Mon May 18, 2009 12:11pm

That doesn't work.

Welpe Mon May 18, 2009 12:14pm

What part doesn't? I can get all the way to the screen where you enter the subject and message. I didn't actually submit a message because I don't want to flood his inbox with useless garbage. ;)

You do have to be logged in for that to work though.

johnnyg08 Mon May 18, 2009 12:21pm

push send once. trust me

Welpe Mon May 18, 2009 12:50pm

OK, I sent him a test message and I didn't see any errors or problems, it went through and showed up in my "sent" box.

Sorry bob for the test message I sent you.

Edit: Weird, after I sent the message, I went back and tried to go to the screen again and now I'm getting the no PMs message. Forum glitch I guess.

johnnyg08 Mon May 18, 2009 12:54pm

he must have changed his settings, i received a "this user does not accept PM's"

Let me try to clear this up.

1) I used to receive PMs.

2) Then I changed to not receive PMs because:

a) I got some that were nothing but profane rantings
b) I didn't notice that I got some, then some complained because I didn't respond.
c) I don't recall getting any (other than from other moderators) that couldn't be said / asked in the public form.

3) JWWashburn asked in this thread if he could send me one, so I "allowed" PMs.

4) He sent me one (it falls, imo, in group 2c above).

5) Welpe also sent me one while I was receiving PMs.

6) I have now disabled this feature, thus johnnyg08's posting.

Welpe Mon May 18, 2009 01:45pm

Well I guess I made it in the window then (didn't account for that, go figure). Sorry for adding to the confusion. :)

You will never find an actual moderator of a forum that you can not reach.

That's because what Bob does is not moderating. He should go by something that describes what he does.

There are lots of people who are unreachable and who don't follow-up on messages (email, phone, PM, etc.). If you send Mick a PM he will respond.

Who actually cares about any of this?

So, you won't bait a coach, but you have no trouble baiting umpires?
