1st State Tournament selection
I've been selected to work my first State Tournament here in Tennessee and am excited beyond belief. No real story or anything, I just wanted to post it here just to see it in writing I guess.
I played through college, coached and got into HS umpiring 5 years ago and at the age of 52 truly am looking forward to the excitement and challenge. Now I'll shut up. |
Congratulations
Good Job. Its always a good feeling to be picked to work post season. Now go out there and do a good job

|
Congratulations are in order
Great job, ETN, enjoy the ride!
To go OT, I also have something to celebrate, my first NCAA D1 game. While it was a midweek game, it was two D1 teams, and it was a blast. U1, Got all the whackers right, nobody said boo the whole night, except when I missed a ball I should have gone out on. But U3 picked it up for me, it was a slicer to F8. |

Have a great time and relax, it's just another game! Enjoy! |
Congrats to all who are working "post season" and to those who are / have worked the first time at a "higher level."

I'll add to the list of first timers. After being out for 3 years and my first year working in Missouri, I was assigned two semi's and the final of a district tourney. I was surprised when I saw the assignment posted. I guess I've done a few things right. It is so much fun to go out and work a game with kids who know how to play it right.

Great Job Congratz and enjoy yourself.

Just as a follow-up, my Tennessee State tournament went great! (Other than a HUGE bruise on my right forearm, LOL)
7 games in 4 days all ending up with finals being held at the Middle Tennessee State University baseball stadium. I saw some really good baseball and met some really good umpires from around the state. I did make my first ever dead ball, third strike call on a HBP. It was really kind of a weird play. Batter has a 1-2 count, catcher sets up on inside corner, pitcher busts him right on the corner and the batter leans back and literally throws his back leg into the strike zone. I think he was fooled and knew it was a strike. Anyway, it went great and I hope to get the call again next year. |
