jackets/pullovers

I posted this on another forum so I apologize for this seeming like duplication to some members..

My association deals with Honigs. I'm looking for a jacket... preferably black but I'll take Navy.

Honig's in Canada is selling them for 92.... +Pos is selling them for 50. Even with the change and shipping it will most likely be cheaper.

Can anyone compare the jackets for me?

If you're in an association, I'd guess that everyone's got the same jacket, so go with the flow.

If it's for HS, you'll have to go Navy if I'm not mistaken. On the black, I have the +Pos and I love it.

We can wear either black or navy, as long as everyone on the crew is consistent.

Just like we have our choice or navy, power, black, cream, or red shirts.

If you want to match your partner and can wear either color set, you should get both colors of the jacket.

I have Smitty jackets, Smitty long sleeve shirts, and my cream short sleeve shirts are Smitty and I really like all of them.

Someone has stated that the +POS jackets sold on the reopened website are not of the same quality as the originals, nor the ones being sold on eBay. I can attest that the plate brushes aren't the same as the old ones. I have no idea what's being sold at pluspos.com. Someone may have just bought the names, designs and patents.

I have a +POS jacket that I got from Dan Parsons via eBay, with white/charcoal/white stripes. The color matches my pants, it looks fabulous, and is of top notch quality. I blows the Honigs away. Does it match the 90% of guys who wear the Honigs? Nope. But in the games that I work, it doesn't matter.

So you can match your crew members exactly, or be a hair different (only other umpires will notice), and a lot sharper.

The regular black PlusPOS (without the gray trim in the shoulder inserts) is an exact match for the Honig's black jacket. I have the black with the regular white/black/white trim and it was an exact match for the Honig's.

If I could I would wear power. Let's see some rat come and "discuss" with me when I am wearing power. :D

OK, so back to the point. I have not had a +POS in a while, but I do have a Honigs, I like it and think that it works well. Some guys in my association have purchased the new +POS and like many on here have not been overwhelmed by the quality, but they do work.

I can't speak to the "new" PlusPOS, because I have the "old" ones, but I can say they are or were the finest umpire pullover.
