Could someone quote me the High School (Federation) rules for determining a "Winning Pitcher". We are have some discussion over innings necessary in a game with a predetermined pitching rotation. (i.e. 5 pitchers pitching 2-2-1-1-1 innings) Thanks!

Starting pitcher must pitch first four innings to get credit for a win. Relief pitcher who is pitcher of record when team takes the lead, and opposition neither ties nor takes the lead, gets the win. Unless he is considered to be ineffective. RULE 9.6.6.

Right -- in college, though, you can give the win to the first pitcher, as long as it was pre-determined to use three or more pitchers.

Mr. Jenkins,

Do you know if that "predetermined" rule was ever in High School?

No, I don't know.

I try very hard not to read the "scorekeeping" sections of the rule books.

Not since 1973. But I doubt if it ever was in FED.
