New Kansas HS records set; umpires probably suicidal after game.

BREAKING NEWS: Caney Valley baseball team sets state baseball records

Box Score

The V head coach of Caney Valley is my old college roommate and still a great friend to this day. I called him on Thursday to gripe about having to work two less than mediocre teams with mid 40 temps and a 30 mph ice cold wind. He laughed at me and said, "Well, you'll never guess what MY team did on Tuesday...."

Don:

My mother grew up in Linwood and graduated from Bashor H.S., and then graduated from KU, so I am familiar with Johnson and Douglas (I was born in Lawrence) counties, but where is Montgomery County? Thanks.

A Question: How Can We help out in this mess

Is there some kind of assistance or recovery fund we can donate to the two umpires who had to suffer through that? Is there a local bank in that county where we can set up and donate to a 501(c)3 account for umpire relief?

(But you know there is some fan in the stands who will blame that score on some call in the 1st inning of the first game....)

I graduated from DeSoto High School, so I know all about Basehor. You as someone from Lawrence know Desoto as the McDonalds between Lawrence and KC on K-10:p Back in 1997 when I graduated, the Desoto School District was 1 4A High School, now there's 3 5/6A Schools I believe. Crazy!

Montgomery County is about halfway between Pittsburg and Wichita if that helps; right on the OK/KS line. Coffeyville and Independence are the biggest cities in the immediate area.
