You though your game was bad
This Week Community News : Baseball team has rough start
Coach Fired, and players jaw broken. How was your week? Hey UmpJM...I'm posting! |
The coach should never have told the player to "leave the dugout for the rest of the game." He is responsible for that minor child, and the players are supposed to be in their bench area, not wandering around the ball yard. Then he "accidently" left without the player on the bus. And nobody noticed that the kid with the broken jaw wasn't on the bus. Right.
Steve, did you work this game? |
Steve87,
See, that wasn't so hard, was it?!? ;) I must admit I'm a little curious about: 1. How you happened to come across this "nugget" and 2. Why the player who got hit by the pitch (in the HEAD! - breaking his JAW, lah me) got into an argument with the umpire. WTF  SDSteve, I am fairly certain that Steve87 did NOT work the game. That would be an awfully long way for him to go to do a HS game - especially one with pretty crappy baseball from the writeup. JM |
This one was in my backyard, in a league that my local association services. But I hadn't heard about it and it sure wasn't me working that game!

Go sit in the bus.
How about arranging transportation for the kid to the hospital? That's one tough coach.

Not one of my games, but I would love to hear it from Ump who has there. How do you argue with a broken jaw?
I did have some fun last week. After a kid struck out looking for the second time, he started to let me know his thoughts. Before I could deal with it, coach tells him to "take a seat on the bench....for a long time,... until you can learn to keep your mouth shut" I had to keep my mask on to hide my smile. Thanks Coach. JM Yahoo news search "Baseball umpire", a lot of junk but sometimes you find an interesting one. |
