Well that one is out of the way . . .

Well game #4000 is now history. 1968 seems like a long, long time ago.

My journal entry really had nothing too important to mention.

Standard “first game of the year” on the stick. (Timing just a shade faster than Ed Montegue for the first two innings.)

Did have a slide and tag play at the dish – gone to my “casual” out sign no matter how close the play.

The clock is ticking and I hope to get may three or four more games in before calling it a career.

And “no”, I will not miss it at all.

Congrats Tim. Sounds like a good run. Did you start your journal right away in your career? What things do you put in there? I'm considering starting one this year...10 years to late to capture 'em all, but I guess it's a start..

Come on Tim.... 5000 is not that far away! You got this far, didn't you!

Congrats, my friend!

Congrats Tim, hopefully your internet participation and words will continue. You still have a lot to offer the youngins around here.

Nice Job.

Wow, that is a lot of games. I could not even image working that long. Nice accomplishment.

Peace

Cool, and a great achievement!

I also like the "casual" out sign no matter how close. Started that several years ago and it works great!

Thanks
David

Congrats Tim! I hope I'm as fortunate to reach that milestone one day.

Are you serious about only getting 3-4 more games in???

bossman72 Thu Apr 09, 2009 10:46am

Congrats Tee,

4000 is a great accomplishment! (whereas 3999 is not. haha)

WOW!

Tim, until today, I thought that hundreds of games was a lot.

You can't retire! What will you do with all that gear? You need to wear out all the gear and uniforms, then you can retire, when there's nothing to hang up.

Good question: ebay for your gear?:D

SethPDX Thu Apr 09, 2009 03:28pm

Nice job, Tim!

Way to show 'em how it's done in these parts.

piaa_ump Thu Apr 09, 2009 03:31pm

Congrats on the milestone......

Tim,
Congratulations on the milestone game of #4000.......thats an outstanding achievement in any arena....

Heres to many more years behind the dish..........and more behind the pen....I for one miss the "Strikes and Outs" column that I have followed for so many years.....

My present game journal only goes back to 1999, but it was your suggestion that made me start logging them in.......Havent missed a game entry and it has been a valuable resource for me ever since....

Congratulations!!

Stan

I wish I had done that when I started 15 years ago. That would've been very, very interesting to look back on.
I know it's not too late to start, but some things will never happen again (ie... my first college game, first no hitter, etc.).
