Yeah, I prefer the bulk of a Platinum every time I get drilled. You almost feel nothing at all. There is a loud sound, however.

And I have definitely gotten used to looking and feeling like I'm going to run out on the gridiron again and catch some passes.

I had a fellow umpire wail away on me with my Davis, K1, an original WV, and my platinum. The last three laughed at the pelting baseball, but I felt every shot to the chest in the DaviShield.

Does that mean you didn't feel anything on the K1, WV or Platinum?

I overheard Scott Ehret at the NCAA clinic describing the protection of the davis as "the difference between getting hit and getting hurt."

I felt nothing from the Wilson products, and a litte compression, or force backwards in the Honig's vest. But shots hurt in the Davis.

The Davis folks told me this morning that they won't take back the vest, once it's been worn, so off to eBay it goes. Don't buy it from me gents, unless you do softball.

Bob, when Mr. Ehret made that comment, what was he comparing the DaviShield to?

I don't know -- I think some other "hard shell" protector.

Thanks again, kylejt, for the great information! I've been looking for a lighter, cooler alternative to my Wilson Platinum when working younger divisions. I guess the DaviShield is not a good choice. That's too bad because I liked its price and features. Good work!
