Seriously, after a HS playoff series last year, the guy who "invented" this approached our crew and asked who the crew chief was. When I answered that I was the crew chief, he handed me one of these, along with his business card. Not wanting to be rude, I accepted it, but I have not used it, nor would I ever.
If I was found possessing an Umpire Clip, I would have a cover story ready too.

I think I'll figure out a way to hang a Gatorade off one of those. I'll have one on each side, just in case we have extra innings.
Blue. Blue Gatorade. To match my shirt.
I should get some big games if coaches & my assignor sees me wearing Blue Gatorade like pistols.

Hat rack

When I was playing baseball in HS (30+ years ago), I was a catcher and had begun umpiring little league by then. So I used to pay closer attention to the umpires than my team mates.

One of the slobs showed up (you can't make this stuff up) one day for the game, with his faded black windbreaker (too cheap to buy a plate coat...and way before pullovers had come into play), and pulled his really-badly-faded-from-the-rain beanie style hat out of his ball bag.

To top it all off....the balloon protector that was (of course) faded, and showed the ribs in it where he had put too much air in it. Navy (kind of) blue to match (not) his faded black windbreaker.

Let's just say that his first impression didn't enthrall anyone.

Back to the belt clip. May need to stock up on blue gatorade, red, light blue....all can match the shirt....but you guys will have a problem finding it in black.

Does it look bad to tuck the throat guard in the back of your pants and let the mask hang? Not during the game but before when inspecting field and equipment and during coaches meeting.

Umpires (well, those pretending to be umpires) have been known to do that.

This thread has spurred me to use my imagination and come up with the next great umpiring invention.
I think I've finally got it. Why not use fanny packs? Ball bags on the side... THE UMP PURSE in the back. Oh, Yeah... I'm going to be rich!

Think of how handy this would be. I'm going to hire that guy that yells about the cleaning supplies - Billy Mays - to do my TV commercial at 2 AM.

Car keys, no problem!
Afraid of a stolen wallet? Keep it in THE UMP PURSE!
Keep your sun screen in THE UMP PURSE!
1 million uses! Be the first on your diamond to have one!
Not seen in stores! Tell 'em Billy told you to call!!!!!
