For what it's worth, these NB 450 plate shoes are very good shoes. They are wearable right out of the box. They do require a bit of maintenance however. First of all, get some back up laces IMMEDIATELY. They break quite quickly. I went to my local Red Wing boot store and purchased good quality waxed laces and they seem to last. Also, the attachment point for the metatarsal plate is pretty flimsy. Don't overextend it when you don and doff these shoes. If you follow these simple suggestions, they should last several seasons.

I had something happen with the 450s that has never happened before in my life: I broke both laces in one sitting! Each lace snapped and I had to re-lace right before the game. When I got my back-up pair, I switched out the laces immediately.

Another suggestion: Always use a shoehorn with these babies.
