LL juniors playoff game. If a team wants to intentionally walk a batter, do they actually have to throw the 4 balls, or can they simply state that thye want to walk him and send him to first?

They have to throw the 4 pitches in Minors, Majors, Juniors and Seniors.

In Big League (17-18) they may just announce it IF they do it before any pitches are thrown to the batter being walked.

Thanks Rich,

Do you by any chance have a reference for that? I cannot find anything in the LL rulebook on it.

Rule 8.04 gives the Big League Intentional Walk Rule. The absence of such a rule for the other divisions means that they must throw the pitches.

I looked that up, but did not see anyting about big league or intentional walks. 8.04 relates to delays by the pitcher throwing to the catcher. Was there a different one by any chance?

Are you using the current 2002 Little League Rule Book? It's right there on page 77 under 8.04.

Actually, no. I am looking at a 2001 which does not say anything about this. I will try and round up a newer copy. Thanks.
