Anybody what an average time for running from base to base is?
a single? a double? Scoured the net... cant find any data... |
You might want to be more specific. What league, age, size of baseball diamond, etc...?
|
Most people measure the 60 for baseball. Under 7.0 sec is a great time. MLB avg is around 6.8. This is run straight 60, or home to 2nd.

yeah sorry chaps...
was wondering what the MLB times from Plate to 1st base was... Also, from 1st to 3rd.... I've also tried to find what meters/second base runners sprint at but not turned anything up yet... |
OK, I'll try
New Ichiro information:
Home to first 3.7 First to second (on triple) 3.47 Second to third (on triple) 3.43 Mickey Mantle was said to have done 3.65 from the left side. This has been disputed because the actual timing was done from films. Vic Davillio (Cleveland in the 1960's) was reported to be the "fastest ever" from home to first in 3.55. Again a left hander that was always moving towards first when the ball was hit AND AGAIN this time was taken from films not actual play. Tee Ooops, this information is from ESPN The Magazine [Edited by Tim C on May 18th, 2002 at 01:26 PM] |
