Talking Instant replay finally works?

Just read on ESPN that they used instant replay to reverse a call made on the field.

I guess it might come in handy as long as that's all they use it for.

Amazing that I keep reading how everyone thinks that baseball will keep expanding it further and further.

Anyone that understands baseball would know that will never work. The NFL found that out the hard way this week.

Instant replay cannot fix all of the plays and situations, it just is not possible.

Thanks
David

So, where did you see the news that the NFL was restricting the use of IR as a result?

Dollars to donuts the situation results in EXPANSION of the use of IR in the NFL!

The problem will always be in sports, sooner or later there will be a play where the system won't work in the best interest of the sport.

And then you have a week like this one where its the talk of the talk radio and ESPN. Then today another play will happen in college or pro (ie the BYW/Washington play last week) and it will all be forgotten.

Instant replay is helpful, its just not the panacea that everyone wants it to be.

That's why you play 4 quarters in football, 9/7/6 innings in baseball etc., simply put, one play does not determine the outcome of the game.

Thanks
David

Last I checked, High School football didn't have instant reply. Am I mistaken?

Actually, it's fine. I got the sarcasm. My point was to the naysayers to IR that say, "Once it's in MLB, it'll be EVERYWHERE!!1 How can the league afford it?!!?!?!!"

Depends on where you live. Nearly all of the HS football games in big towns are now televised which makes it a lot more easier for the coaches to demand replay.

It might not be on the level of college where they have 17 cameras, but it might be good for obvious plays, fumbles etc.,

Just give it time, they will come up with a way.

Thanks
