Recent High School varsity game, umpire incorrectly stopped the game after 8 innings, tied score, saying that HS Federation rules specify "no new inning after 2 1/2 hours." Is there a procedure / process or are there rules governing what the status of this game is? Must it be resumed / replayed / not considered for league record / other? If one team wants to resume, the other doesn't, is that a forfeit? Is there a "controlling authority" somewhere?

Thanks.

Sounds like an issue that would have to be resolved by your league commissioner. In our league, one team would have to file a formal protest with the league office and they would decide the appropriate course of action. My guess is that they would send both teams back out onto the field at a later date to finish the game unless both coaches were willing to live with the outcome (unlikely as someone would have had to file a protest to have a ruling made).

If the league orders them out and one does not want to play, then yes, they would forfeit.
