MLB Umpire Tim Timmons

I am watching the Sox-Yankees game on ESPN and I am wondering what Home Plate Umpire is wearing on his Right Arm around his wrist?

It is black and is not a watch.

Does anyone else know what it is?

Thanks
Dally

I'm watching the game right now and I don't see anything around his wrist

I see it. I don't know what it is, and don't care much.

Maybe he got it on vacation.

jdmara Wed Aug 27, 2008 08:43pm

Wow! Why does everyone care so much what the Big Dogs wear? Are we becoming Fashion Conscious? Steve, you and I could care less what the Big Dogs wear - we are more interested as to how they work and make calls!

Tim Timmons
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Timothy Forbes Timmons (born December 30, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio) is an umpire in Major League Baseball who has worked throughout both leagues since 2000 after debuting in the National League in late 1999. His crew for 2007 includes Alfonso Márquez, Rick Reed, and Chuck Meriwether. He is known for a loud, emphatic high-pitched strike call, which he will cross his body to call a strike on a left-handed batter, and is very dramatic behind the plate with his body actions.[citation needed]

He is also notable for wearing a black band on his right wrist

(Doesnt say why)

Huh.

Looks like someone took Ozzy's advice and paid attention to what he does on the field. :D

Has anyone tried one of the Phiten bracelets or necklaces? I see a lot of guys wearing them and wonder if they work.

dally7777 Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:23am

Thanks for the responses.

I wear a similar black wristband because my good friend and fellow soldier didn't get to keep his promise to his daughters, and I did. The promise of returning alive from a Combat Zone...... So I wear it so that I can keep my promise of "Never Forgetting".

I was just interested when I say a MLB umpire wearing a similar one.

Here is the info on the HeroBracelet that I wear and the info on my friend.

As I posted on another forum (and I don't claim it to be original) -- they work primarily by lessening the amount of weight you carry in your wallet.

I carry the memories of my friends who have gone before me in my heart and not my sleeve. I do not need others to feel my pain, I do it fine all by myself.

Sorry, I'm from a different era!

SanDiegoSteve Fri Aug 29, 2008 10:53am

If you like that...

Yes, they work great. And there's this Nigerian website where all you have to do is send them your Social Security number, and they'll send you $100,000. Works equally well!

And as black as your heart is, Mario, the wrist bands around it blend right in!

Tim.

Some folks here go to the extreme of know when certain umpires are going on vacation. In many states, that would be stalking. In all states, that would be just, odd. It's these folks that we're making light of. The MLB umpire groupies.

UMP25 Sat Aug 30, 2008 08:53pm

Indeed, Kyle, which is why I asked the question above. Nothing wrong with having a little fun.

BTW, Walt, love the Superman underwear! Is it Kryptonite proof? :D

Haha, the joke's on you, Steve ! I didn't have to give them my SSN, just my
bank account number, in order that they may direct deposit my share of the funds they need to move out of the country.

I am watching the Sox-Angels game on TBS and I am wondering what Home Plate Umpire is wearing on his backside belt. It is white in color and may be a medical device. What is it?
