FED Rules. DH for pitcher. In the second inning the Pitcher moves to first base and first baseman begins to pitch. In the next inning the umpire says the DH is killed and the "original pitcher/now first baseman" has to bat. We argue FED Rule 3-1-4 says the DH can continue to bat for the "original pitcher/now first baseman" as long as he remains in the game. Who is right? I think he had the rule confused with American Legion which only allows a DH for the pitcher.

In Fed the DH may hit for any player. He is not restricted to hitting for the pitcher.

See 3-1-4 "A hitter may be (not mandatory) designated for any one starting player (not just pitchers) and all subsequent substitutes for that player in the game...."

In FED, if the DH plays defense, or the player being hit for plays offense, the DH role is eliminated. The DH, and the player he hits for, are LOCKED in the same slot of the batting order. The two can NEVER be on offense or defense at the same time. Both have re-entry privileges. Since the player who the DH hit for remained on defense, the DH is still in effect. The former pitcher who moved to F3 still may not bat. If he does, THEN the DH role is eliminated.

The ump blew it.
