Want to make sure i got this right.....

Senior Legion game,pre-game meeting,line-ups,ground rules.Home team takes the field, visiting team realizes the lead-off(jones) and #6(smith) batter in the line-up hasn't showed up.Can the coach use subs in these spots without penalty other than jones and smith being burned?or,do we have 2 auto outs

He can sub for them, but they're done for the game.
Or, he can take the out as the batter is due up. When they show up, they bat. However, the problem of taking the field with 7 pops up. And just how did the coach not realize he was down two players? Yeesh.

The only starter that must do something before being subbed is the pitcher. Put in subs. There's no such thing as "auto outs" in Legion (OBR).

Thanks guys,I didn't have my MLB rule book handy.I got it right, the home coach(a good friend of mine) wanted the auto out call and argued a little. He called me tonight and he still didn't think i was right. No big deal all in good fun, they won 12-0 in 5.

I guess the coach didn't count noses before he made his line-up. Just as an aside, do any of the more popular summer programs allow starting with less then 9?

Absolutely correct, Rich because in OBR once you come to an open slot in the batting order (on offense), the game is over. So the coach would want to put in the subs or bye-bye!. On Defense, if you cannot field 9, you go home!

Not in Legion.

In Legion you need 9 to start and 9 to finish

There is No Re-Entry in Senior Legion ball. Senior legion plays by OBR rules EXCEPT they have adopted NCAA's FPSR and No Collision Rule

In Summary: The manager MUST Field 9 Players who are PRESENT. Not "on their way" If the team is unable to field 9 game is Declared a Forfeit and referred to the Legion President

If the Players do show-up, they can come into the game as substitutues but since there is no re-entry those players who are now substituted for are done for that game.
