The word is democracy.

Yes, your word is democracy. Fortunately for America, we live in a representative republic, not a democracy.

Steve,

We just went through this last December. The USA is a representative democracy, and also a republic. You don't have to take my word for it-- just look it up in any dictionary. Or try Wikipedia for "republic".

By the way, "representative republic" is a redundant phrase.

Well, FED says to tell the pitcher to pick an arm and go from there. I'd probably do the same for OBR as well.

Even I know that America is a representative democracy and a republic. Do its people not elect their representatives?

Yes we do, but as has been proven over history, a true democracy leads to anarchy. That is why we use a democratic process, yet do not embrace true democracy. It's a technicality issue, very much splitting hairs, but there truly is a major difference:

If you can read these articles and not find them to be compelling in nature, then you're just not paying attention.

Actually I'm pretty businesslike and straight forward at the ground rules.
