Willie Mays thread

Apparently the thread about Willie Mays has been deleted. Did it get out of hand?

Aside from someone complaining that it shouldn't be on this forum, I didn't see anything wrong with it. I found it far more entertaining than "what color jock strap Ed Montague wears," and other such usual fodder.

We should be able to freely post off-topic subjects about baseball. We allow coaches to come here and ask some pretty off-the-wall questions, so why not allow us to talk a little Willie, or Mickey, or Gibby, or Drysdale once in a while. They were my boyhood heroes, and just because I spent a little more of my time as an arbiter than a player shouldn't keep me from being a lover of the game.

My guess is that it was delted by the original poster.

And, there are plenty of "fan-boy" forums to go talk about your favorite players.

So why has the "Off Topic Baseball Thread" been allowed to live on the basketball board for years and years?

My aren't we serious.

There are many, many other threads that I thought would be deleted before a "Willy, Mickey and the Duke" type thread.

The "enjoyment factor" is dropping on this board like a lead balloon.

Bob one of the main problems IMO with this Forum is that it is ALL one encompassing Forum and not split like say Umpire.org

In other words here at the Official Forum we do not have a separate section for simply Discussion, rules, situations etc. etc.

Probably because the OP hasn't deleted it (as, I'm guessing, happened here). I'm not saying that either thread is wrong. Merely pointing out that the complaint that it was deleted seems a little strange to me. <shrug>

I bet that the baseball forum regulars read our OT Baseball Thread all the time!

I deleted it because I tired of officiating the exchanges between Canada and someone else.

Hey! Wait a minute!

What is Canada doing talking to San Diego? San Diego isn't even the capital of California. :p

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means "a whale's vagina."

We've gone off into politics; the criminal justice system; grammar, punctuation, and word usage; and other non-baseball subjects. If a thread doesn't interest me, I simply don't follow it.

Oh, well. No big deal.

I would like to officially file a complaint about the above comment. After reading it, I sprayed the mouthful of coke I had just drank all over my desk and now have a hell of a mess to clean up.

I'd love to take credit for it, but it's a line from Anchorman.
