And I have had a coach argue that "you have to keep it live - they reached for it and didn't put their hands up." To which I say, "is the ball in DBT or not?"

Agreed, but I think there's some concern (perhaps not a valid concern) that the fielders reach for the ball and then place it in DBT, or into the grass, etc. The "hands up" just shows that they didn't touch it and that the ball just came to rest naturally. It's also the signal to us to come out and look.

You are correct - these are unlighted fields. The games are scheduled for 7 innings. Weekday games are scheduled at 6:00PM and during the weekends, they start at 10:00AM and are scheduled every 2:30 until 5:30PM.
