Honigs vs. GD Pants
It's time to order new pants and I am trying to decide between the Honig's Poly/Wool Slacks and the GD pants. Apart from the fact that the Honig's are more expensive, what other differences are there?
BTW, Honigs has a special on leather ball bags, if you are so inclined. :) |

They are colored differently, with the Honigs pants looking slightly lighter than the GD pants. Also, for some reason, the GD pants I have seen have 3 belt loops right next to each other on the back, and it looks really bad. I have also heard that they get much hotter / are less breathable than the honigs.

I have both and my answer depends...
upon what your needs are. The GD pants can be thrown in the washer and dryer without a second thought. GD pants are also very comfortable around the waist. I have never had to iron them and they look fine.
Honig's poly-wools must be drycleaned most of the time to keep them looking their best. You can wash them in cold water and hang dry then iron them if you wish. When dry cleaned and correctly fitted and hemmed they are the nicest looking pants. They are my favorites but the others have their purpose. I have the poly-wools for my college games and sometimes I wear them when working a HS game with a partner who is also in my college association to match if he wishes to wear them as well. The GD's I wear a lot in the summer doing travel ball tourneys as my regular partner is my son and he also has GD pants. We match up quite well. Only one of my HS partners and none of my college partners have the GD pants. So, as I said earlier, it depends...... The choice is yours. Good luck. |
Poly-Wools. They are excellent pants.

the GD's are just plain ugly. the grey material they use looks almost plastic-like. i have not once dry cleaned my honigs pants. wash and hang dry works fine, and you don't have to iron them too often (as previously stated) unless you (or a clubby, damn some of them) leave them in the washer too long causing them to wrinkle. spend the extra couple of $ and get the honigs.

Sheesh, should I feel bad I still prefer Fechheimers? :)

If I buy any premium pants, they will be the Honig's ones. |
I own both
as well and prefer the GD's.
They are light in warmer days, easy to care for and I prefer the darker coloration. They also have a hidden expanding waistband which aids in fit if that's important to you. FWIW. |
I actually love Fech's too. Where can we get them?

I prefer the GD also but I am not allowed to wear them during HS season per State of CT mandate (only heather gray is allowed). |
