That depends on whether I'm in one of my cranky moods, haven't "gotten it" in a while, or just have had a bad day. :D

Coach: sure it is.
pause.............
PU: Time, Cr is out as an illegal sub, #3 subed in 2nd inning for RF who reentered.
Coach: then why did you let me put him in again
PU: i ask 2x and i asked if he was a legal sub.
Coach: how am i supposed to know, you have the lineups
PU: coach you are home, you have the offical book.
Coach: turns to Assistant to check the book, and kicks him out of the dugout.
Coach: "thats BS"
PU: excuse me thats not called for, legts play (yes i have some patience)
Coach: i wasn't talking to you but i should have been.
PU: goodbye.

haha!! That was almost identical to what I projected the conversation to be like.

Like i said before, don't let him do it. You have the lineups in front of you, you know it's wrong, so don't let it happen.

No sir you can't run #3 he can only run for F2 etc.,

Keep it simple. You basically made a "mountian or of a mole hill".

And then you had to eject him also?

If this was MLB fine etc., but you are the official lineup and telling the coach what to do is
good umpiring.

Thanks

I agree. Rather than asking "are you sure you want #3 to run?", I'd tell the coach "#3 can't run because ..."

If the coach continues to insist (I can't imagine that happening), then the actions of EJ and Out are justified.

And, while "you" is a magic word, it's only so if it's followed by unflattering adjectives, or specific actions / directions.

I agree: I'm going to tell the coach that #3 cannot enter, and disallow the substitution. I don't see the conversation going much past that. This is preventive officiating.

As for the EJ, it depends whether he says "BS" or what BS stands for. Around here, we're not supposed to tolerate profanity from anyone. Remember, there are 3 P's, so not only "personal" comments get someone ejected. (I think I'd ignore the initials.)
