NCAA 5-5j-1 defines an illegal substitute; on offense, "If he is at bat or on base, he is out."
See also 5-5b AR 2: " A substitute becomes a player when he reports to the UIC and is entered on the UIC's lineup card." Out when illegal sub is in the box and ball is in play, but shouldn't UIC nip this in the bud by not allowing the illegal sub to re-enter the game?
