Obviously designed for those who like the hideous styling of a helmet, but don't want to wear a helmet.

As unconventional, or goofy if you will, it looks, it might be a better mousetrap. The newer, flatter masks will transfer more shock to your dome. Something more hatchet shaped will defect more balls, rather than absorb them. I'd like to see a side view of it.

I love my new Schutt mask because it's so freaking light. BUT, like my old SUL, I don't really trust it. I'm going to swap out the padding for a little more safety.

Hats off to All Star for giving us another choice. With +POS possibly down for the count we need them.

You must not have read the copy. This IS a flatter mask. Whoever is in charge of R&D should be canned.

Wow. It's called the "I-Bar." It's so ugly it should be called "E-Gads."

This mask certainly does not fill me with confidence, for sure. Maybe for slo-pitch softball. It's so hideous that it probably repels the ball rather than deflects it.

While I agree about it not looking so great, there are some things I like about the design.

More throat/neck coverage.

No flat spots, and lots of angles. You are less prone to get a square shot with this mask.

The ear protection is bent backwards. Again, a shot there won't spin your mask off, unlike the masks we all wear.

The lower pad looks like it will distribute the energy better, and over a larger area.

Think of it as the Volvo of umpire masks. It may not be sexy....
