Cleveland plays the bug card

The giant flying gnat swarm at the Jake has caused Chamberlain to throw wild and cost the Yankees the lead. Just when I thought I had seen everything...:)

Those bugs must be homers, because they apparently didn't bug the Cleveland pitchers.

Tribe wins!

Did the umpires use the proper mechanic in swatting the bugs away? (I'm working on my CanadaDryUmp and Unfitump impressions)

Does anyone have a schedule for when these bugs will be with the Yankees again on the road? I'm curious to know how much vacation time they get during the season :p

They had grounds crew guys out there with those big butterfly nets catching those little buggers for export to yankee stadium.

Bugs

I'm PU. Bottom of seven and two outs. Runners at second and third and full count on the batter. F1's next pitch is ball four. Defensive coach is granted time and comes to me wants a "no pitch" to be called. Coach says that the ball was knocked off course by a moth in route to the catcher.

My response was: Thanks for the concern coach, the moth was not hurt and we still have the bases loaded. It's time to play ball.

Rita,
This whole doggone thread is hilarious.
Most of the fields around here are next to water - river, creek, and a few lakes. Those bugs were nothing - they should see some of the bug "snowstorms" we get.

Aspiring, young umpires should take note of the mechanics in this "training" video!
