Just out of morbid curiosity II

OK gang, my AL obsession continues with this question on plate mechanics. Are there situations where the slot just won't work, where the old AL stance is actually better?

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, when the AL used the balloon protector, they had to set up directly behind the catcher. Typically, you would still have the corners, but lose the low pitch.

I believe Terry Craft still sets up directly behind the catcher.

Thoughts?

If the catcher sets up way inside, and rather than hide, the umps wants to see the zone.

The only thing that will get me out of the slot is when the positioning of the batter and catcher prevents me from seeing the pitcher release the ball. When that happens, I will move directly over the catcher and come a bit higher to get a better view of the low insided corner.
