DH rule

OBR summer league with american league rules. DH for F1 in the 2 hole. F3 gets injured. DH enters game and plays 1B - former DH (new F3)continues to bat in the 2 hole. F1 now enters batting order and bats in the spot vacated by the injured F3? is this legal?

i believe it is per OBR, but i don't have a book handy. thanks,

The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player, unless more than one substitution is made, and the manager then must designate their spots in the batting order.

Your title newump - Make certain you keep your books handy at all times.

Your situation is verbatim from the OBR rule book. here it is

OBR 6.10

The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player, unless more than one substitution is made, and the manager then must designate their spots in the batting order.

The MLB rules are always handy. The DH Rule is 6.10, at the bottom of the page.
