Coaches Arguing

Yesterday I had a 50/70 state tournament game. In the third inning the visiting coach started yelling at the home coach during play. It began to get heated after the third pitch. I stopped the game and asked the visiting coach what the problem was. He accused the home coach of stealing signs from the bench. Both the home and visiting coaches were now yelling from the bench. I gave both coaches a warning, which the visiting coach immediately ignored. My partner and I ejected him simultaneously!

Should I have ignored the argument?

The problem you would have in not taking care of it then is you will most likely have to deal with it at a later point in one way or another. Not sure at 50/70 if they are at the age yet where they will start throwing at each other but even if not, you will likely have to deal with the coaches throughout the game. I personally like the way you dealt with it and I had a similar situation earlier in a tournament game.

Coach A was yelling from his dugout at Coach B although I could not hear what was being said I saw that coach B (3rd base box) was upset. I walk over (this was between innings) and escort Coach B back to the third base coaches box as he started walking toward the other coach. As I was walking away to go deal with coach A near the dugout Coach B started yelling again and I then ran him.

No, tell the visiting coach stealing signs is part of the game and entirely controllable by better disguising the signs. Just goes to show you are dealing with rookies, one complaining and the other responding.

At some point the argument was going to get into your concentration and it certainly is not good sportsmanship so the only question was when not if you had to step in.
