The ignore list

Why are people so eager to tell everyone on this board who is on their ignore list? If you do not like something someone has to say, why not just not read their posts? I do not have a single person on an ignore list and there are people I will never respond to or I realize their opinion has no value to me personally.

I just find it annoying every time someone says something that a person does not like they keep referring to their ignore list.

Peace

I think the reason we want people to know they are on the list is so they will perhaps stop posting asinine comments directed at us. Maybe if we discourage the rude behavior, they will cease and desist. Not likely, but maybe.

They included this feature for a reason. It is difficult to ignore posts when you are trying to follow a particular thread.

No it is not. When you see a topic started by "......." you just do not open the thread. If you see someone posted a response, you pass over their posts. Half the time I do not read over all the posts in a long thread anyway. So it is very easy to pass over someone I think is talking crap.

BTW, when you say you put someone on their ignore list do they stop posting automatically? ;)

Peace

Put it like this. 50% of the people that don't like you, you don't care if they do. The other 50% of people, you don't know they don't like you.

I'm 100% sure I don't care either way.

I find this thread pretty annoying.

rei Thu Jul 12, 2007 04:52pm

Everybody is on my ignore list!

:D

Quite the conundrum.

And,

Some posters are so arrogant that they say "you don't really ignore me you still read my stuff . . . "

And often other posters include a quote from the ignored one and you wind up reading their crap anyway.

I currently have six names on my ignore list.

Did you know you can list your own name on your own ignore list?

Regards,

Regards,

I've got an idea.
Instead of the silly umpire trivia game lets play

"Who's on my ignore list"

Between Garth, Mcrowder, SDS, Ozzy, You (Tim C), mbyron and a few others we have a few weeks worth of material.
Someone else of course will have to pick up on this as I'm sure I'm on their lists therefore they'll miss out on this great idea.

Of the 6 listed above who has the deepest ignore list?

mbyron Thu Jul 12, 2007 06:26pm

I'm pleased to report that 4 of the 9 distinct posters in the thread (up to this one) are on my ignore list. That's an unusually high percentage - probably a thread I won't return to.

I haven't put myself on my list (yet).

ozzy6900 Thu Jul 12, 2007 07:19pm

My ignore list is empty! If I ignore you, I cannot read your post unless I remove you from the ignore list. Of course, that would negate the usefulness of the ignore list. But if I can't see what you are saying, how can I respond with hopes of enlightening you thus bringing your intelligence quotient out of the negative numbers.

Whew, what a crock of BS!   Bartender, where's my drink?

Not so! Every ignored post has a little "View this post" link in the upper right corner. Should you feel the need, just click that to read the post...

Can someone tell me how to put my wife on the ignore list?

jicecone Thu Jul 12, 2007 07:51pm

I am ignorant to begin with, so I am already one step ahead of everyone.

Right Rut. Peace.

Truth of the matter is, if what is said in all these posts really offends everyone that much, then I got to be questioning your longevity as an official. Being able to ignor most of what is said during contests is a sign of maturity and experience. If you are offended by those you can't even see, how do you handle it on the field.

Ignorance just means you lack knowledge or you are unaware. When I made that comment you, you were lacking knowledge of the particular subject. It was that simple. Just like I am unaware why it is so important for people that do not want to listen to some people spend so much time trying to tell everyone they want to ignore someone. Oh well, I guess everyone has show how unimportant someone is by telling the world how unimportant they are. ;)

Peace

Yeah but it's real expensive divorce is.

Rich Fri Jul 13, 2007 03:10am

Let's just say that, upstream, I had seven ignored messages in a row.

ozzy6900 Fri Jul 13, 2007 06:28am

I find it quite comical to read a post where someone feels that they have to post that they feel offended!

No one can offend you unless you allow that to happen!

Another comical item is when someone "demands" an explanation for being ignored!

I have to laugh every time I hear that "someone demands an explanation" for this or that then claiming that they did nothing to deserve the offensive act. In other words, it reminds me of a spoiled brat!

Ahh, yes!
