All-Star Game or infomercial for Barry Bonds?
 

My wife and I are sitting here trying to enjoy the All-Star game, and these ridiculous announcers won't shut up about Barry Bonds. You would hardly know there is a baseball game going on, as all they do is blather on and on throughout the telecast. If you're not looking at the screen, there is no way to keep up with what is going on, as they barely comment about the game itself. I've dozed off twice now, as Buck and McCarver have made the game boring as hell.

I found it amazing that Bonds was walking behind Mays onto the Diamond.

It will be about as close as he will ever get, to walking in his footsteps.

As for Hank Arron, forget it Barry, you should feel lucky if he even takes time to consider attending one of your games.

I was listening to ESPN radio on the way home from a rained out game and caught the part of the intro where they did some kind of tribute to Willie Mays in center field. While introducing what was going on, one of the commentators said something along the lines of the following:
"...and he's undoubtedly the best Giant, and one of the greatest all time, Barry Bonds...I'm sorry, Willie Mays"

I laughed out loud at that.

Bruce is getting the crap beat out of him behind the plate. I'll bet he just can't wait for the end of this season, when he can put all the beatings behind him!

Bruce did get beat up tonight, did you notice all that flinching? Guess after 5,000 games, flinch or no flinch, Bruce is still an exponetially better umpire than any of us :)

Did you hear the conversation with Posada after the second hit?

Bruce said "We're only playing 8 1/2 tonight - I'm going home"

I think the amount of attention he's gotten overall during his march to one of the greatest records in sports pales in comparison with the attention Hank Aaron, Roger Maris, or Mark McGwire got. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just saying that it could be a lot worse.

It shouldn't surprise you. Willy Mays is Barry Bonds' godfather.

I don't mind Bonds getting attention, I was commenting on the way the announcers were droning on and on during the baseball game, forcing us to remain riveted to the TV in order to follow what was happening. I like to feel free to move about my house and still be able to keep up with what's going on with the game. And they were extremely soporific as well, as I found it hard to keep my eyes open while they spoke.

Sometimes the ignorance people show just amazes me.

As stated, not only is Mays the Godfather of Bonds, Mays is like a second father to Bonds. Barry grew up with Mays as a very influential person in his life. Mays and Bobby Bonds played together in San Francisco.

Where is there evidence that Bonds knowingly used these drugs? It doesn't exist, that's where. I don't care too much for Bonds myself, but unless we throw out the records of everybody who did drugs in baseball, we should all just shut up and wait for A-Rod to break Bonds' record.

P.S.- Remember Steve Howe? 7-time loser with cocaine, and yet his statistics remain on the books.

P.P.S.- Steroids or not, it still takes a lot of skill to hit a baseball like a Barry Bonds. Steroids don't sharpen timing or make you see the ball better.

A comparison and controversy of Mays, Bonds and Arron was brought up by the two boneheads on TV.

Ignorant or not, I refuse to put Bonds in the same class, and yes I know their histories.

:confused: For being in the "bigs" , McCarver is an IDIOT. He adds nothing but "run of mouth" for a broad caster. Saying broad caster is a great stretch of the word. I have often wondered what he has on the powers to be, since he always does the all-star game AND world series. This guy is a maroon!

And it is my opinion you are ignorant. Nothing you said originally had anything to do with steroids. You talked as if Barry was somehow kissing up to Mays and you obviously had no idea of their personal relationship. That is why I called you ignorant. What you think of Barry and his suspected drug usage is your issue. I personally do not care if he did or not use any drugs. He is still a better player than Aaron (spelled correctly) ever was and was long before he got close to this record. And Mays may have been a better all round player, but Bonds is was a much better hitter. Then again, that is my opinion. So do what you do, maintain your ignorance.
