runner jumping over a batted ball

hi,
following situation, R1,R2 2outs.
the ball is hits between 2nd and 3rd base. the runner waits for the ball to go by him. in that moment when the ball crosses hin, he (r2) jumps over the ball.
the defensive coache argues, that this play by the runner was interference. is he correct ? or, can't this be interferece ?

Only if he actually interfered with a fielder making a play on the ball. Otherwise its simply avoiding being hit with a batted ball.

I actually had a guy in a D-3 game a couple years ago run past the ball as it was coming toward him, then he went backward, jumping over the ball, then turned around and continued forward again.

Now that I would just call be an idiot, but not interference.:D

Actually, I called interference on it because when he did it, he screwed up F6 badly enough to have easily deemed it hindering a fielder's chance to field a batted ball. Remember, contact need not occur for interference to be called.
