Legal in Fed?

Would this slide be legal in Fed?

Ahhhhh...the good old days.

BigGuy Fri Jun 01, 2007 09:18am

Not these days. Must slide in straight line to the base OR away from fielder. In FED this would be INT.

I believe the original post had a tinge of sarcasm

What you might not realize is that the runner started this play as a "skunk" in RF: he's sliding directly into the base!

Ignore that apparent slide mark in the dirt - that's from another play... coincidence... guess you HTBT...

Rich Ives Fri Jun 01, 2007 01:27pm

The runner doesn't appear to be wearing one of those namby-pamby batting helmets either.

Well, he isn't batting, is he?

Well, surely the old two-hands-in-the-catcher's-eyes crash is legal.

Yeah but if we go back to those days, we all have to wear the raft and those little beanies!

Great timing on the out call too. Umpires back then just couldn't wait to get that thumb up in the air. These days we call them, "Smitties."

2) This would be interference in any rule set. Even in OBR, you have to be able to reach the base with a hand or foot.
