HS Playoff Rivalries
Thought I would post an interesting article about a local playoff game. Really doesn't have anything to do with umpires. I thought some of you would enjoy reading it and some of you won't (or wouldn't).
http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/h...n.2dd6bfa.html Now if I may ask, what is the largest HS baseball attendance you witnessed in your "neck of the woods" this season? |
Quote:
We have two teams with a combined 14 state championships and their fans are die hards. When those two teams play its always 1500 + and that's for regular season. Last week in playoffs we had 1500+ for a 3A game. Two of our local teams just won state championships and they reported between 2000 and 2500 for the games. Sure makes it a lot of fun to have the big crowds. Thansk David |
Attendence
We had a state championship last year between local crosstown rivals and estimated attendence was 7000-7500
Great atmosphere |
Here in San Diego we have several venues which have been used to host the Section finals. For years they were held at Qualcomm (Jack Murphy) Stadium. They would often draw 5,000+ in attendance. Then for some reason they were moved to USD Cunningham Stadium, where I would estimate 2,000 was average. Now they play at SDSU's Tony Gwynn Stadium, and also draw a few thousand fans for the finals.
