National XTreme Baseball League

Hey, guys,

I'm normally a softball umpire, but perusing the internet lead me to this.

Here's the league's website...

This is just frightening, I tell ya. Frightening.

Nxbl

This isn't frightening, it's down right STUPID!

I live and work here in the Orlando area, I haven't worked any games in about a year due to my "real job", but I haven't heard anything about this. from what I say on the website, looks like someone is a hell of a promoter!

You aren't kidding. From the website:

What makes it "Xtreme"? The game is played with both teams on the field at the same time, two pitcher's mounds, two home plates, ... The base lines are six feet apart, creating a double-diamond effect. The pitchers alternate turns to opposing batters. The team batting on the spectator's left side, will run the Flip Side of the bases.
Yikes!

so do you have two umpire crews??

Get your tickets fast...I read some of what was on the website and one of the main inspirations for inventing this type of baseball was to "make the game more fair for left handers" WTF??

New 4 man crews

so do you have two umpire crews??

From what I have been able to find out, their version of a 4 man crew is 2 BU's and 2 PU's. The PU's work 2 different plates set in the middle of where the normal batter's box would be. Both teams are on the field at the same time and the teams rotate pitches from both pitchers who are standing on the mound at the same time.

Several people have had threads about travesty's of the game, I think this is one of them!!:(

This guy is quite the promoter. They use 2 base umpires and 2 plate umpires. The mechanics used are 3 man. I felt the same way, however, they pay DII money, and had 600 people at this game.
