RightSports has contracted with me to produce a film aimed at helping beginning and intermediate umpires get started.

How to walk on the field, where to stand, how to study, what to study, getting along with coaches, players, fans, partners, association top dogs, etc.

Don't be asking when it's out: It's not been shot yet. I'm in the process of writing the script now.

But the title has been chosen to reflect the temper of the times.

We'll call it

Basic Training, and Childress is the DI.

BTW: I forgot to make it clear: The "film" will be released on a CD.

Great; but, who are the cast members.....

and please, use some overhead camera's showing the overall field as the umpire's move into position on the various plays.

Some of the current video's have no depth perception, making it hard to comprehend what is happening.....

just a thought, which you probably have covered already!

Carl, would you consider doing a video regarding the rules? Examples of obstruction, interference, etc. It is one thing to discuss when you should call obstruction, but it is someting else to see the play and see the umpire call obstruction, and those discussions could take form in a video.......

No. Because I am a card-carrying member of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA), RightSports could not afford the union scale. Also, they were unwilling to give me my union-mandated coffee breaks.

They wrote me out of the movie, claiming my character was killed in a freak pine tar incident.

Yes. Good articles that I've read before, and a message board that requires "approval". I ain't needed approval for nothin' since I asked my ex-Father-in-Law for his daughter's hand in marriage - - and we all know how that turned out. Bad experience - - very bad.
