Got sent to the dugout last night

I got sent to the dugout by the umpire for the first time in my 14 year coaching career. I have to admit is was deserved. I even shook the umpires hand during the JV game that followed and thanked him for not ejecting me. I will be more calm tonight.

BigUmp56 Fri Apr 20, 2007 01:38pm

What'd you do to get yourself restricted to the dugout? Details, man, details.....

Tim.

harmbu Fri Apr 20, 2007 01:44pm

Details

There was a double play ball where I thought the other team's first baseman pulled his foot. I asked BU to get help and he did. PU said he had an out. I asked why he was out and he said he never pulled his foot. As I was walking away, I said, "If you are going to get into perfect position (and he was), you need to make the call." He told me to go to the dugout where I stayed for the final five pitches of the game.

TussAgee11 Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:44pm

5 pitches?

well that means you must have won, because your pitcher ended up on the hill at the end of the game. then again, somebody could have hit a walkoff, but given your attitude, I doubt it :)

fonzzy07 Fri Apr 20, 2007 10:52pm

correct me if i amwrong but according to his post wouldn't his team have been batting. If he was arguing a double play saying the person pulled his foot off the bag obviously he was arguing for his team and thus for the baserunner. thus his team was hitting.

David B Fri Apr 20, 2007 11:07pm

Bu's call all the way!

Shame on the BU. If there was any doubt he should have asked for help.

But waiting for the coach to ask ... forget it!

Thanks
David

asking

Most of you clowns never ask for help...if you do ask you must be a football official also. I had a game last week where on of my friends(a guy I let sub last year on my football crew)was working the plate. We had a close play on a slow hit ball to short where it appeared to me from the 3rd base box that he pulled his foot. The BU called him out & I thought he pulled his foot. I didnt ask for an appeal because I wanted to see what would happen. I watch my HL a couple of days earlier ask for help on the same play. The BU who didn/t ask for help is just a baseball guy. After the inning I asked my friend if the 1st baseman pulled his foot & he said "if I would of appealed he would of said yes he pulled his foot". THAT IS WHY I DON'T LIKE BASEBALL AS MUCH AS FOOTBALL OFFICIATING. BASEBALL WILL LET SOMETHING WRONG GO ON WHEN FOOTBALL WON'T.

Not always true

No true, that's why football has "INSTANT REPLAY" and baseball doesn't!

You can correct things retroactively in football without affecting the play. That is not true in baseball.

As stated, the BU should be smart enought to know if there is a chance F3 was off the bag - then quickly ask before making the call.

Once he makes the call as out then its too late.

I know he was your friend as PU, but you never tell a coach, "if he would have asked I would have said he pulled his foot." That undermines the whole crew.

Thanks
David

Who helped you make up this opinion about us clowns? Nevermind. I already have formed an opinion about the quality of your skills.

Didn't learn anything did you? You should have listened to your friend and correctly identified who made the mistake.

Did you come UP with this one all by yourself? Coach, please stay in the bleachers the next time for your own safety.

This is all I needed to read from you to show me that if you're an umpire you're not much of one...........

He's not an umpire. He's already been laughed off the basketball forum for posing as (1) a former D1 basketball player (2) a current high-level basketball official (3) a college football official, and (4) a high school varsity baseball coach. In his spare time, he also solved World Hunger and stopped Global Warming.

Just another 14-year old troll passing through. Read some of his old posts if you want a giggle. Just laugh at him; he'll disappear eventually. We got rid of him.

I guess Coach Jinx tired of trolling the basketball portion of this website.
Maybe, he'll go back to coaching a Madden football team in the Nintendo League.
I hear the referees there have never blown a call.

I played D1 basketball & also played JUCO baseball on a team that went to the NJCAA college world series. I coached HS football, basketball, baseball in the south. Moved to the west & coached college basketball & juco baseball. Then moved to the midwest, where I am now. I have had my basketball license going on 5 years but do not do high school basketball(dont do any games anymore). Way to many mistakes(officials), fans are to close, coaches are fools & everyone thinks they are experts(just listen to jurasshxxx). I am great high school football official who has just moved into the college ranks. I do coach high school baseball in the sping(big deal what else is there to do). I also have 2 kids, a wife & a 3 handicap. Some people have it & some wish they did.

Good Lord, who asked this guy for his resume?

Please be careful, you might break your arm patting yourself on the back!

you see old timer has nothing to say now. For everyone on here who is a an english teacher I'm sorry for the grammer(my mind thinks faster then my fingers type). I'm also sorry for beating guys up like you who aren't good in sports but can tell you where a period goes. Great job now get out of the grammer book & the rule book & learn how to have good judgement & not choke under big game pressure.

Just like the clown today. Rings up my guy on a 3-2 bases loaded pitch. Their pitcher had thrown a great 2-2 that I thought was a strike, PU called it a ball. Their dugout goes nuts. Next pitch a foot outside. I asked my camera guy who is filming up in the press box if it was a strike as I'm walking back to the dugout. He says "no" I look at the PU & shake my head. Then the camera guy says really loud but the 2-2 pitch was a strike. PU must of been thinking about a run on sentance or something.

Aw, did you lose your Little League game? And you and all your fellow players were mad? Don't be sad. I'll bet Mommy got you something nice at the Dairy Queen on the way home anyway. So, wipe this tears away away and carry on, little soldier.

Have a great day at the ol' junior high tomorrow.

Be nice to Jinxie, guys. I remember when my kids were just turning into teenagers. It's a tough age.

Did you go to your D1 college 1st before you went to your World Series on your JUCO team??
