$%#$%@ing Snow
I've had it. Really freaking had it.
I am working in Sacramento this week and right now Madison is getting hit with snow. 6-ish inches. I worked 5 games between 3/24 and 4/1. Last week I lost Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday due to COLD WEATHER. I have college DH scheduled Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Looks like THESE are now in jeopardy. AAARGH! |
Hey Rich,
You got Sac & La Tech? I was in Reno yesterday and it was great, I go back this weekend and it might be less than that. It started raining today in Sac, the high school games will probably be canceled for today by noon and it is snowing up the hill right now. GL this weekend. |

And wife said it's likely going to be 10 inches in all. Blah. |
I live in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and we typically get the weather Madison gets about two hours after they do, more or less. I just snapped this photo in my backyard.
https://home.comcast.net/~john.muller/AprilSnow.jpg Had a double header last Saturday cancelled due to cold. Worked a "chilly" game on Monday. Scheduled to work "singles" tomorrow & Friday, and a DH on Saturday. All doubtful at this point. JM |
I've had four games postponed since April 1st...and not able to work the rescheduled dates due to conflicts....the weather really sucks!
|
It's warmer up in Canada I think.
|
We are expecting 4 inches of snow tomorrow. It's a good thing even tryouts are a few weeks away lol.
|
Cold/rain front moving in here.
High today 71 (low of 44) but tomorrow only 61 (low of 41) with a chance for rain. I have a 7pm Adult League game Thursday...buurrrrr But temps should return to 75 on Friday. |

Send some of that "cold" this way. |

That's three more than me. Ten games scheduled, ten games cancelled. |
We have started our Travel games down here. I worked yesterday and we are talking about 45 or so degrees. The only games cancelled were today because of the rain. Other than that it has been baseball weather.
|
I don't have a game tomorrow so I am going to get in a round of golf in the afternoon. Temp is supposed to be in low 70's. We actually had a light dusting on Friday night, first time I ever remember in April. It was measured at 0.13" at the airport and it was all gone by 10 am. But it was back to low 60's by Monday.
|
I'm cancelled tommorow due to snow. Saves me a 2 hour drive at least. Hoping to worh a DH on Monday when it may hit 50 degrees.

I have games scheduled almost every day in April, with only Thursdays off so I can do observations/evaluations. I lost games today, this past weekend, and several days last week. Tomorrow's going to be very doubtful with the snow and rain we got today. 2.5" of snow around the western burbs, then another inch or more of hard rain on top of that. Everything's either under snow or water--or both. 3/4 of the country is in a deep freeze, with April temperatures in many places colder than have ever registered since records began being kept in the 1800s. So much for the BS that is "Global Warming." |
Had my first weather-related cancellation of the season today. Lost 1 game of a varsity DH to rain. Not bad considering the season started on President's
Day. :p |

I would post to give you an honest explaination, but it would get deleted, because it is scientific and factual and not related to baseball but weather. |
You can always PM me, but if it's more of the same BS disguised as "Global Warming," you'd be wasting bandwidth.

Trying to pass off untruthful claims as "facts" is always a nuisance to those of us who have common sense on our side.

Did you see the D3 game on Monday when they had a snow delay of 45 minutes? Players had to shovel and sweep the infield to resume. |
I'm supposed to have a single Friday and a DH Saturday....
Weather forecast: Today: Rain - 51 Friday: Snow/Rain mix - 42 Saturday: Snow/Rain mix - 38 Sunday: Snow showers - 35 Only about 230 days left until basketball season!!!!! |

Two weekends ago we worked a completion of a suspended game (45 minutes) followed by a single 9 on a field barely fit for play. They used Diamond Dry on the infield itself and it will be a while before that field is back to normal (probably next season). If it was a HS game, I would've taken the lineup cards and thanked them for the check and then cancelled it, but if the colleges want to go and I have to drive 2+ hours, we'll play. I'll just wash the mud off later. |
We ended up with about 8 inches of snow here in western Wis where I live.
Only 30 miles to the north they only had a little over 2. I've have one scrimmage and 3 games so far. Had five canceled or rescheduled and had a game for tomorrow and a DH for Saturday that I'm sure will not be played. Don't know if the snow will be gone and the fields dry next week. I've got five games on for next week. Hopefully be Thursday thing will be ready to go. We had better weather the first half of January. At least we don't have earthquakes or hurricanes up here. I'm really sick of winter. |
It is amazing though, that even with all the weather that parts of the country are getting now in April, that they are pushing next college season back a month. We'll see if it helps, but the weather is so unpredictable.
|
One thing I truly believe IS predictable is that springs in the upper Midwest simply suck. Oh, there is the occasional warm day or week, but for the most part, the springs here suck. It's not like it was when I was a kid, when the snows stopped in mid-March at the latest, and April was mild and comfortable.
|
Al Gore is right!
Yep, all this global warming is running amuck with my spring schedule, too!
Hang in there! |

What is the optimum temperature for the planet?

My take on GW
Quote:
Possible causes: 1) population, 2) deforrestation, 3) topography, 4) solar and planetary cycles, 5) combustion emitting greenhouse gases and black soot and many more. CA is the place to be to see these processes in action. Which of these is most responsible for increases in ozone and CO(2)? Greenhouse gases and black soot from carbon combustion in CA. YGTBSM! The least likely source of increasing temperatures occurs in the AIR we breath. It getting hotter in CA, isn't it? The most likely source of warming occurs on the ground we trample. Oh no, nobody in CA is going to take on issues 1-4 above anytime soon, are they? Start working on problems associated with 1) overcrowding, 2) overuse, 3) uncontrolled growth, 4) daily demands such as RUSH hour, etc. Cool the ground and we cool the air over CA. Just my take on GW before the lockdown. Happy to participate. ;) |

Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter are also warming. Along with Earth, what is the common denominator? The sun. And she's been quite antagonistic the last decade or so and doesn't show any signs of letting up. |
Wait for it...............
