No doubt. Everyone knows the only place to call baseball games worth calling is in the Pacific Northwest.

Tim.

Really? I've called games there, California, New York and Arizona and I wouldn't agree. Perhaps you have had a different exprerience. What level were the games you worked in the northwest?

Tim.

I don't know much about the Pacific Northwest, but I would think the Southeast is where the best baseball is, considering it can be played almost all year long. I put my gear in the trunk of my car in early February and take it out in early November.

Wow, I wish I had two months off.

Kyle in northern San Diego.

Southeast vs. Pacific Northwest = No contest, in this poll.

No doubt that Tim was casting to try to land Tee with this one. To his credit, Tee did not take the bait.

There is plenty of good ball to call almost no matter where you are in this grand country.

I count myself as being lucky to be able to watch VERY good teams at the HS level in Northern Virginia. One day, I hope to officiate at that level.

Pretty much as I surmised. Even my old stomping grounds in northern California fares better. I can't help but wonder on why BU56 is such a fan of NW baseball.

I read it differently. I think Tim either missed or chose to ignore the point of the post he responded to.

I would agree that there is good HS baseball across this country - as well as "not so good".

While the gentleman from N.C. suggests that the southeast has the best baseball overall, I would guess his colleagues from places like Texas, Arizona, and Southern California might find his observation a bit parochial.

In my experience, the milder climates do tend to feature better baseball overall - but only in the general case.

Is everyone missing this? Tim (Big Ump) was reacting to Garth telling James to "move, quickly, before it's too late."

I mean, seriously, why would anyone want to leave San Diego. It's absolutely gorgeous here. Great weather, beautiful city, and really good baseball. Only out of jealousy would anyone go out of their way to insult this fine city. I guess I'd be jealous too if I lived where it rains 300 days out of the year.

Wow. I sure missed it. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

My comment had nothing to do with the quality of games, so when BU56 posted, I thought he had changed the subject,

Sure glad I don't live where it rains 300 days a year, either, where ever that is...the Olympic Peninsula, maybe? That's okay, a lot people make the incorrect assumption that Spokane is just outside of Seattle. It's a bit farther than that, about 280 miles.

Spokane is situated between a desert and the slope to the Rockies, so we don't have the kind of weather the west side of the state has. And, half of our days of precipitation are in the winter, when it snows.

And, so that you know, I lived long enough in California to experience the good, the bad and the ugly. It's a great place to visit. We own a place down there on the beach and and stay there four times a year.

Evergreen wouldn't be my pick.
Bananas were also impossible to locate within the US.
Funny though, I couldn't find a delicious watermelon either.

Reminds me of the old saying: "California is the granola state. What ain't fruits and nuts are flakes."

San Diego is a horrid place. Simple dreadful. Don't move here....er, there.

Perhaps I should have left a [sarcasm] tag [/sarcasm] around the entire message. Being from the Midwest, and still having a foot of snow on the ground, I could think of very few places I'd rather work games right now than Southern California.

San Diego is a good place from what I've read. Lots of beaches. And any place that brings up David Wells can't be too bad.
