When is your first game scheduled this spring??

I can't be the only out here that is ready and eager for HS baseball to start this spring.

My first game is scheduled for March 13th and YES it is both COLD and WINDY in southern Illinois that time of year!!

Don't have a schedule yet. Last year my first game was Feb 12 and first HS game was on Mar 1. It will probably be near the same this year.

According to the FHSAA, I am too young to work HS ball. I have been working several tournaments nearby though. There is actually a tournament going on right now, about an hour from me. I worked on Friday, but there were no slots open the rest of the weekend. Oh, and did I mention that it has been upper-70s to low 80s here in Florida?

I've got a game next weekend. But that is an indoor, girl's high school softball league so I would imagine that most posters here would say that doesn't count!

Here in the frozen midwest, high school baseball starts the last week of March. That's when I usually get my first outdoor baseball assignment of the season. Sure, we'll have some cold, wet conditions to deal with but that's why they make long johns and jackets.

The indoor stuff keeps me busy and conditioned during the winter. When the spring season starts, I've got my game legs under me and am ready to rock!

And, yes, I'm itching to get back outside again! My high school state packet arrived this week, along with the 2007 rule book, case book and umpire manual. Our local association begins weekly meetings the first week of February.

Those are both sure signs that spring is around the corner!
