Has anyone used InHouse Sports?

I placed an order over the web yesterday, and went to confirm it this afternoon over the phone. All I got was a cell phone answering machine.

If you've used these folks, how long has it taken to get your order?

Thanks in advance,
Kyle

Yes I have. His name is Ken Reeves and I have had many good conversations with him. The shoes he sells are the exact same one that Honig's sell for much more money. I bought 2 pair for me and have gotten good wear out of them. Several other umpites have gotten the shoes based on my reccommendation and got them in 1 week. In July I sent him $390 for an order that consisted of shoes, pants, and shirts. Some was mine but most was for other people who had paid me cash in advance. My check cleared my account on July 26. Since then I have talked to Ken 4 times and have heard every excuse from kids goin back to school to movin the wearhouse why he hasn't sent my order. On Aug 21st he promised me that my order would go out on Aug 24th--a month after my check cleared the bank. Since then his fax has been disconnected and his mailbox has been full so he can't get messages on his answering machine. I have emailed him for my money back but to no avail. His parents own a sporting goods store in Ca. and I have tried calling some in his area but no one knows of him or his parents store. I am now in the process of refunding the money I collected from my friends. Because of this thread, I tried again to call him and he has cleaned out his mailbox on the answering machine. I left a message for him to call me. We'll see what happens and I'll keep you posted.

So you used a credit card right? I would get in touch with the company asap and then buy from Honig's, GD, BTL or Lesters.

Oh yeah. CitiBank will cover me on this one, so I'm not worried about being out any dough. That just won't happen.

Agreed that Honig's is the way to go. I placed an order to supply my Junior umpire program, and got the order in two days. They rule. It's just that these shoes were half the price at Inhouse, so I thought I'd give it a go.

I ordered these on Monday, and wanted them overnighted. I got no response, so I called and left a message (cell phone answering machine). No response again. I left a couple of emails, with no luck.

So my son didn't get plate shoes for his birthday today. And somebody's gonna pay. Woe to you Mr. Reeves, if you don't respond to my quiries tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, seems like they had all kinds of ads posted in Referee Mag and all over. One day I finally went to their site and it said it was still under going updates. Probably best to stay away from them.

kylejt Mon Sep 18, 2006 05:21pm

I did a little homework, and found the thirdparty that does their credit card transactions for them. I fired off an email, and within two hours got a phone call from the owner of Inhouse Sports(always follow the money). He was very nice, and said the shoes would be out today. He said he was two months into a move to a larger location, and he's backordered for several weeks. I was "lucky" that I was only a week out.

Stay tuned.

Kylejt,
As I mentioned in my earlier post, Ken is a nice guy to talk to. I have bought stuff from him and sent him several customers. I have had many pleasant conversations. But, when I send him a check for $390.00 worth of merchandise--some of which I collected from friends for a joint order--clears the band on July, yes, July 26th and I have still not gotten my order, I am past being a little chapped. He told me several times that the order was going out the next day and etc but then he had to take his kids to school and he was moving his wharehouse and he quit his job and he went to the NASO convention for a week and he has to go to LA to pick up his stuff and on and on. His cell mailbox was full for 2 weeks so I couldn't leave a message and now it's open but he won't return my calls. I do call his 951 830-5358 number once a day(throwing good money after bad, I guess) just to see if he has the decentcy to answer or return my call. He doesn't. I have returned the money to my friends and can only hope that I get it back one day but I doubt if I will. It's a long way from SC (where I am) to California. If you have any way of contacting him, please let me know.

kylejt Wed Sep 20, 2006 07:32pm

Well, I got my shoes today. Nine days after I ordered them.

I bought a pair of the patent leather Honigs for a friend of mine, and these seem to be the exact same thing. How long they'll last, I can't tell you. They aren't built anywhere near my +POS, but close to my Gerry Davis. And for the money, they're tough to beat.

I also got a profuse apology from the owner. Probably due to my contact with his cash source. I'd suggest tugging in the same direction if you are having troubles.

goemerchant.com

Even if you didn't use a credit card (you know better now, I hope), email them and tell them your tale. This might bump start things, as it did for me.

Good luck.

edit: I got a follow-up phone call today from the owner. He was sorry for the delay, and cited expansion/moving causes. Again, it sounds like he's trying hard, but just not yet able to keep to keep up with demand. My suggestion was that he responds to orders and email ASAP, even if he can't fill the orders right away. Communications is key. He agreed.

This operation was recommended to me by another regular poster on the board. I was in the market for plate shoes. I ordered in mid-July, about a week later, I called because I hadn't received the order. Left a voice mail message and got a call back later that same afternoon. Ken told me that he had been at the NASO convention and was catching up on orders received. He told me that my order had been shipped in the last few days. When I got home later, I had received my order.

Guess I was lucky.....I will definitely use caution in dealing with him in the future.

ibcallindux Tue Sep 26, 2006 02:30pm

The orders That I trouble with contained more than shoes. They were for shirts and pants and other stuff. Shoe only orders have always come in a week or 2. Ken still hasn't sent me any merchandice or my money back from the check that cleared my bank on July 26th. By all means, don't send him a check. He took my money and ran. He won't even take my calls any more--been callin every day now for 2 months.

kylejt Tue Sep 26, 2006 03:16pm

I'd try an email to their credit company. ( I know you didn't use them, but it doesn't matter). Tell them you placed an order, and never got the goods.

It's worth a try, and it worked for me.

Kaliix Tue Sep 26, 2006 05:22pm

It sounds like what this guy did was commit mail fraud. I would leave him another message telling him that you will be contacting the police to report the theft and fraud, the postal service as they will pursue the mail fraud angle as well and the better business bureau in the state of California, unless he calls you back immediately and agrees to return all your money.

If he doesn't, follow through and get the authorities after him. He deserves it

ibcallindux Wed Sep 27, 2006 10:06am

Ken Reeves answered my call last night and promised me that my order would go out in the next couple of days when he gets his new warehouse set up. I hope that is true and he gets his stuff straightened out and makes a go of it. His prices are the best and he pays the shipping. If this works out I'll give him another chance. I know of others in my association that he has already shipped shoes to so maybe it'll end well.

kylejt Wed Sep 27, 2006 11:05am

I honestly think he's trying. It's just that he's overwhelmed, and not prepared for the amount of business he's recieved. No fraud whatsoever. He's just put the cart ahead of the horse, and is trying to play catchup. Very typical with startup internet businesses. Feast or famine.

Let us know what you think of the pants, when you get them. I'm sure that's the sticking point of your order.

ibcallindux Thu Sep 28, 2006 09:39am

I also believe he's trying. My only complaint is that he'd say he was sending it out today and it not come. My major problem was that another person who was in on the order kept hounding me rather nastily about it. I got one pair of pants from him at the start of high school baseball season and have not worn any of my other ones since. I have done a large number of games and these are still kicking. They are starting to turn a little pink now but I am still wearing them. I wash them every night and my wife says that I'm wearing out the washing machine. They have elastic all around the waist, which I like, and no rear pockets, which I didn't like at 1st but am used to now. I mentioned to Ken that I liked them and he told me that he'd send me another pair for my trouble. I also noticed that the material on the thighs was wrinkling but then I saw that was true on the one's that were worn by my partners that were more expensive. I like them and will continue to use them if I can get them.

ibcallindux Wed Oct 11, 2006 08:56am

I have no final report but am posting just to keep the thread going. After talking to Ken 2 weeks ago and him promising me that our stuff was going out in a couple days, It hasn't gone out yet. I have refunded my friend's money to him and am waiting for Ken to send me stuff or money back. I'll keep you posted as to what's happnin.

Kaliix Wed Oct 11, 2006 09:15am

You have given this guy way to many chances already. If he said, two weeks ago, that you stuff was going out in a couple of days and you still haven't received it, he is scamming the pants off of you and you should take the steps I mentioned in my earlier post.

Nobody is that incompetent unless it is on purpose.

ibcallindux Mon Oct 16, 2006 10:38am

My stuff came Sat with some extras thrown in for my trouble. I wish Ken well and will order from him again as I feel he is getting his operation together. The shoes are a great deal-same as Honig's but much less money and no shipping charges.

WTF? You placed an order in July. You had to refund your friend's money. You received your goods 3 months later, and after the season was over.

But to save a couple of bucks, you're willing to go through this again?

I've got an idea. The next time you feel like ordering from this clod again, get a hammer and smack yourself upside the head until the idea passes. Much like ordering from this company, you'll feel much better when you stop.

LMan Mon Oct 16, 2006 01:36pm

LOL. Now I see how 'vendors' like this keep collecting the cabbage.
