The Official Forum - Plate Umpire gets clocked

I was at the A's / Orioles game today. Marco Scutaro hits a foul ball. I'm watching the foul ball go into the stands. When I looked back to the field, the PU is decked out on the ground. It turns out, Scutaro caught him on the back swing right in the noggin. He must have clocked him right on the mask because the mask was laying about 10 feet away. He got up after a few minutes, gave the pitcher the correct count and continued on with the rest of the inning. He left at the end of the inning. One of the umpires took over the plate and they finished the game with a three man crew. Interesting three man crew. The first base guy stayed put the entire game and the 3rd base guy covered possible plays at 2nd.
