LL guys only-illeagal pitch-ball?
In Junior/Senior/Big League, if there is no one on base, and the pitcher does something like start and stop his windup w/ out delievering the pitch, does it count as a ball, or nothing if a pitcher does that with no one on?
|
Dan,
For JR/SR/Big League, the only two illegal pitches defined are: 1. Delivering a pitch while not in contact 2. A "quick return" pitch just as in OBR. As in OBR, these are both balks with one or more runners. The "ball for what is normally a balk" only applies to Majors and below, and it only applies there when there ARE one or more runners. JM |
I don't have a rulebook on me, but I know that OBR this is nothing. I assume the same in Jr/Sr/BL.
Remember that stopping the delivery is only an illegal act with runners on base. |

Is an illeagal a sort of sick bird?

It's nothing. Don't call it a ball. Just let the pitcher start over.

I believe he would have said "illeagle" if that's what he meant.;) Quote:
Where was it the last time you saw it? And just when was that? Oh, wait a minute. You're not my kid. Sorry. If you were to send me a PM that included your "regular" e-mail address, I might be able to help you "find" it. Then you wouldn't have to ask embarrassing questions like this in a public forum. Just a thought. JM |
Use Common Sense
If there is no EXACT rulign on a pitcher stoppign his motion wit hno runners on, they why do anything? Does a pitcher stoppign his motion give the defense any sort of advantage? NO. So leave him be and allow him to begin his motion again.
