I thought I would share....

I dont know if these have been around but I thought they were funny.

Is this how the manual shows you how to do this....?

Should he be tossed or not?

Those are very, very sad - but as Larry the Cable Guy says, "That's funny, I don't care who you are, that's funny!"

Huskerblue Fri Aug 25, 2006 09:14am

Not only should the individual in the second clip be tossed, he should be banned for at least the rest of that season. The game doesn't need thugs like that.

FTR, it was Izzy Alcantara with the Pawtucket Red Sox.

I long for the good old days when you could whump a catcher over the head with a baseball bat and only get an 8-game suspension (which is only 2 because it was a pitcher doing the whumping.)

Ah a John Roseboro memory.

Cool,

Spelled correctly, Tim.
Baseball is a great game because it has history.

Absolutely terrible form on that side kick.

scott1231 Fri Aug 25, 2006 11:48am

Okay, while it's not a really funny situation, I'm LOL @ Dan's "bad form" comment.

And ...

Notice how the batter takes OFF after the kick.

What a chickens**t move in all phases!

He took off the go after the pitcher. He had just been hit by a pitch so he kicked the catcher so he wouldn't get grabbed from behind as he ran out the the mound.

Speaking of sharing things.... heard an interesting comment from the stands yesterday.

I guess there's a rule that limits the number of players that can be involved in a run-down i.e. only the infield can take part... Learn something everyday....

Yeah, those fans know the rules inside-out. Whenever I'm in doubt, I just ask the fans what the rule is.

I figured he was taking off after the pitcher ... but in that part of the clip it's kinda funny, the way it looked: "POW ... oh sh*t ... Mommyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

LakeErieUmp Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:49pm

I usually poll the fans as well as the coaches and make calls accordingly. Except of course a tie at first base which, of course, goes to the batter.

Yup, here's Izzy in action; it's #4....

Howcome when the bullpens empty, they'll both run 300 feet side-by-side but they never start fighting until they hit the infield? Can somebody 'splain that to me?

SanDiegoSteve Fri Aug 25, 2006 02:22pm

I loved the one with Nolan Ryan pummeling Ventura. That one was always a classic!

DG Fri Aug 25, 2006 02:28pm

There is a rule that limits the number of defensive players that can be involved in a rundown. There can only be 9 at TOP so 9 is the limit.

SanDiegoSteve Fri Aug 25, 2006 03:58pm

Now there is a pearl of wisdom, DG!:D

ncump7 Fri Aug 25, 2006 08:26pm

JR..
The reason the bullpens do not fight until they get to the infield is because
THAT IS THE RULE!!!!

Hock9 Fri Aug 25, 2006 08:44pm

No different than the guys on the ice...

They always get WAY more tough once the linesman grab them and effectively prevent them from getting killed.

"Hey ref, that was a checking shift".

Really?

"Yeah, coach was checking to see if I had my skates laced up"

Yep..... getting nine hits in a game off of Ryan should qualify Ventura
for the HOF. :D

Does that mean that it's OK to fight in the infield?

Just once I'd love to see them leave the outfield bullpen, start running, and way out in the outfield start fighting. Imagine one guy looking to his right while running, then undercutting an opposing player, then another player decks someone else. How fun that would be, huh? :D
