need help looking for gear

I'm 17 and looking for a chest protector that wouldn't be too expensive, i've done some research of my own and the Davis-Wilson and Gerry Davis Chest Protectors seems like they would be good. if anyone knows anything about those or some that you could suggest it would be a lot of help. and if you know of any protectors that fit better on skinnyer guys let me know. thanks a lot.

I recommend the V-Sport hardshell model. I like it, I've taken some shots, and it absorbs the hits quite well. It is the generic version of the All-American at a lower price. The All-American is worn in pro ball, so that says alot right there. They come in 13, 15, and 17 inch models.

I think it will protect better than the GD protector. Gerry doesn't wear one, so that tells me something about it.

Ebay

Get something on Ebay. If you like it, keep it until you make enuff to buy a new one.
If you dont, buy another model on Ebay and sell the old model that you dont like.

Repeat.

I also use the V-Sport and I have never been hurt by a ball off of it. It's a best buy for the money.

The Davis protectors are only suitable for Freshman ball, and that might be a stretch.

My advice: Save up a little more, and buy pro gear. You'll never regret buying the best. It's not that much more, and well worth it in the long run. It will last longer, protect better, and have a larger resale value on eBay down the road.

Find a used West Vest Gold or platinum.

I suggest saving your money and buying a good protector. Money shouldn't be an object when it comes to your safety. Besides, it will pay for itself whenever you don't have to make a trip to the hospital.

The only thing I found that I'd trust on this site is the Wilson equipment....JMO of course.

Funny. I got my Pronine XL from there. I trust it. :D Instead of the plates on the outside, they are inside the padding itself.

I'm loving my new gear...

I just bought a new chest protector this season. I was in the BB2000, but wanted something smaller.
I went with the 'douglas vest'.
Not only is it smaller and lighter, but the protection is fantastic.
The price is great, and the service was amazing.
Take a look at douglaspads.com - I'm glad I did.

Bainer.

I own their leg guards, and I love them! You're right, the service is terrific.

I wouldnt trust the ProNine one for any serious baseball. And yes, I have seen it in person.
