Parents Gone Wile....Video

I couldnt post the link here for some reason, so maybe someone can....but go to www.youtube.com and type in umpire. Scroll down almost to the bottom, and click on the video headed "ouch".
I guess some parent got upset their kid got hurt on a "train wreck" play ,and posted this video on the net to hose the umpire. Obviously its low level youth ball, and the umpire is probably a volunteer. I think he got the call right, with what he had to go with. But even so, cause the kid got hurt, I guess the parents thought the umpire should give the kid the out. Maybe someone else can post it on here??

I don't have the tech skills to post the video in reply to your post (to me my laptop is a $1,500 typewriter and golf game). However in our rec league from U9 and up (past T-Ball, pitching machine, and coach pitch) we decided to hire two "real" umpires for all our games. The extra cost to sign up is well worth it, the kids LOVE being in a real game with quality, experienced umpires (all Fed licensed and many-years travel experience), and the games play much better. And, in the big scheme of things, we're only talking about $50-$60 a game more ($35/$40 per umpire, times two games an evening - then divide by 25-30 players per team and 16 games).
I like the idea, the 16 year olds still get to umpire T-Ball and coach pitch, and there is a BIG difference between the mouths from the stands when it's volunteers or High School kids and a 45 year old umpire with 15 years field experience!

That is hilarious. The slide is picture perfect, nothing malicious or illegal, the runner is obviously safe, and these parents are giving the ump sh-t because darling little EJ hurt his wittle tookus on the play.

Here's the link: OUCH!

AH, the old crutch rule. If little EJ (1) goes up the line (2) without the ball (3) STAYS in the line (4) catches the crappy through, it is the RUNNER's fault when he tries to find some place to not bulldoze over the young man. Yep, it's always been the rule that whoever gets hurt on a play gets the call.

Did he feint to first? Was he still in contact with the rubber?

Fellas, I'm sure many of you have seen this but, since we're on the topic of umpire videos on youtube.com...take 6 minutes out of your day to watch "a true hero of baseball" you won't be disappointed. I love this game!

The slide is not picture perfect. Seeing the catcher in his way he should have slid inside and swiped his arm across the plate. The catcher is not near where he is supposed to be and the fielder threw to where he was so it's a defensive cluster IMO. I don't see anything illegal or malicious.
