ump clinics and/or schools

does anyone have recommendations for ump clinics or camps for next year. i only have about a week to devote so the full pro schools are out. i live in suburban phila, but location isn't really a factor as i'm sure I'll have to leave the area.

i'm in my 3rd year of umping and i'm working primarily HS Varsity and some small college. I'm looking to make the move to a real college schedule and want to strengthen and refine my skills.
thanks for your help.

Go online and you'll probably find some clinics in your area.

Wendelstedt has a 2-week school in Jan. I think it's held in FL where the 5-week course is held.

Jim Evans has his Desert Classics (1-week clinics)
AZ in Oct
FL in Dec.

Maybe check with the East Coast Umpires Association (ECUA)

Good luck

Where are you located?

In KY, we have a pre-season camp that is two days, a few umpires from MLB and minor leagues. This would be a great camp for a young umpire. In KY, we must have this camp every four years to be elgible for post season. The cost of the camp when I went was under 100.00 but last year it was 125.00

The Southern Umpires Clinic runs twice per year. It is four days and uses a combination of several major league, minor league, and college umpires including some of the staff from Wendelstat. You can track down their website on the internet.

The folks from up north wear tshirts here.
The Riverwalk is an attractive experience.
The clinic is pretty good too.

Ump Clinics and/or Schools

Northern VA Umpires run a one week camp in Florida in late October or early November that concentrates on three-man mechanics. If you do ECAC ball, contact Nick Zibelli. Otherwise, John Porter at www.umpires.org.
