where is this at? there is no way you can call a pitch accurately from that far back.....

1) Maybe it is an extreme version of the Gerry Davis System.

2) Or he forgot to wear his breathing apparatus,

3) Look at his pants. I bet he forgot his plate pants too.

I live in CA. What's normal here sometimes doesn't count as normal in the rest of the USA.

Maybe he just needs a little longer look at the pitch????

WooPigSooie Sun May 14, 2006 11:18am

Forgot his cup and does not want to take any chances....

Sure he can, the fans do it all the time from behind the backstop...

Da** replacement umps!

bluezebra Sun May 14, 2006 08:41pm

Maybe the catcher has offensive body odor, and/or is constantly breaking wind.

Ole

Bad catcher. Ole.

Strikes and outs!

SanDiegoSteve Sun May 14, 2006 11:10pm

All he needs is a catcher's mitt to snag all the balls that get fouled back. Plus, he doesn't have to worry about clearing the catcher!

ozzy6900 Mon May 15, 2006 06:38am

Notice the red flag! This must be LL's version of the Gerry Davis stance! Nice hi-waters too!

umpd1uc Tue May 16, 2006 03:23pm

The sad part? He started the game like that...and actually the "red flag" are those gosh awful 2 tone ball bags that POS was trying trying to pass off as the next big thing in ump accessories!

Proof Positive

The Monty Python Ministry of Silly Plate Positioning

midtnblu Tue May 16, 2006 04:39pm

did you ever think maybe the catcher and batter moved forward instead of the PU moving back?

umpd1uc Mon May 22, 2006 10:09am

if they did it was because his knees were in the slot

...and the grounds crew moved the plate, mound and planted new grass for different baselines, while the coaches moved the bases. :D

umpd1uc Mon May 22, 2006 10:19am

...don't forget the backstop, fences, dugouts, fans, irate parents, concession stand, movie theatre, laudry-mat, and 2 fast food franchises

LakeErieUmp Mon May 22, 2006 11:03am

I'M wondering who taught the catcher to hold his bare hand IN FRONT OF his shin protector like that.

BigUmp56 Mon May 22, 2006 01:11pm

Maybe the umpire's a left over infielder wannabee. He likes to crouch and creep up as the pitch is being delivered.

Check out the top of the tree!
