HS Varsity, I have the Plate.

R1, no Outs. We exchange signals that I have 3rd.

Batter hits a hard grounder into the Left field. I start heading up to 3rd. As I am running, I lose site of the ball, and so does the left fielder.

I hear my partner yell at me, Nick, the ball went deep, go back home and I'll take 3rd.

Well, he was right, R1 ended up scoring (without a play), but at least I was there in case one developed. Although, I would have reacted to the runner and the coach waving him in.

But it was really nice to work with a guy who understands Team Work, and is thinking ahead.
